President's Message

Welcome to the SETA website! I hope you find the information you need plus some additional facts that encourage you to explore the valuable resources in our website.

SETA’s mission is to provide professional growth opportunities for all workforce development partners. Our partners include workforce development agencies, educational institutions, human service organizations, economic development entities, and businesses. Our membership includes frontline staff, counselors, administrators, and board members.

A major focus of SETA is providing the opportunity for workforce professionals to network. This is done through two conferences annually, rotating throughout the eight states in the Southeast. The Fall 2009 Conference will be held September 13 – 16 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, Kentucky. In the Spring of 2010, the Chattanooga Marriott in Chattanooga, Tennessee will be our host on March 14-17. Watch for information regarding these conferences on the website. Of particular interest this year is the focus on topics related to implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Members also have access to an interactive membership database enabling them to stay in touch between conferences or search for other members in their field. A virtual exhibit hall is also maintained on the website where members can find information on exhibitors who were at the conferences. The SETA Newsline is published quarterly. It provides up-to-date conference information as well as best practices and activities going on around the region.

SETA is governed by a 20 member volunteer Executive Board. The Executive Board selects conference sites, plans programs, selects speakers and presenters and oversees administrative activities.

Check us out and if you’re not a member, we invite you to join us as we work to strengthen the workforce system.

Thanks for visiting our website. Should you have questions on conferences, membership, or utilizing the membership directory, please feel free to contact the SETA Support Staff, 10-x Group, Julia Hoyle, jhoyle@10-xgroup.com, your SETA state representative listed on the Board Listing, or one of the SETA Executive Officers including myself.

Sincerely,

Carol Rayburn Cofer, President
SETA 2009 - 2010
